That is actually the exact model of the motherboard, it says "GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L". check my blog

Normally, Windows does this automatically, but sometimes because of other connected devices, your external hard drive will be recognized, but not have any drive letter assigned to it.
File system is NTFS. I have 4 USB slots and I have tried them all with the same results.
